Winterstar  2023 –  Pan Sabbat Ritual

Winterstar  2023 –  Pan Sabbat Ritual

Adapted from the Book of the Horned One

by Aion131 (Denny Sargent)

The Sabbat has existed from time immemorial, since the skin & antler- clad shaman-gods circled the fires of Cro-Magnon campfires, drawing the spells and spirits to him/herself until the tribal followers left their bodies and traveled to the spirit realm where they communed with the great group-mind of the beasts: The Horned One we call Pan. Collective racial and genetic memories retain the imprints and the keys to unlocking the astral Sabbat. Stories and rites, tales and images come down to us from the persecution of the Old Religion in the Burning Times, from wit- nesses to the Shamanic trances and the communion with the Horned One in so many different far-flung cultures, and from the silent yet telling wall-paintings, runes, drawings and symbols that have survived.

Neolithic cave painters showed the Sabbat as did the ancient Greeks and Romans and always a Horned God of wildness and joy was involved.

Early European painters like Francisco Goya and more contemporary artists like Austin Osman Spare and Rosaleen Norton, have visually captured the Sabbat in remarkably similar motifs you will experience if you choose to go there. Each will find his or her own path to the Sabbat, where the psychosexual secrets of the Horned One Pan will be learned and communicated.

The Rite Of The Sabbat of PAN

The Preface- (fromLiber Lapis Lazuli by A. Crowley)

Visualization…

1. Into my loneliness comes—

2. The sound of a flute in dim groves that haunt the uttermost hills.

3. Even from the brave river they reach to the edge of the wilderness.

4. And I behold Pan.

5. The snows are eternal above, above—

6. And their perfume smokes upward into the nostrils of the stars.

7. But what have I to do with these?

8. To me only the distant flute, the abiding vision of Pan.

9. On all sides Pan to the eye, to the ear;

10. The perfume of Pan pervading, the taste of him utterly filling my mouth, so that the tongue breaks forth into a weird and monstrous speech.

11. The embrace of him intense on every centre of pain and pleasure.

12. The sixth interior sense aflame with the inmost self of Him ,

13. Myself flung down the precipice of being

14. Even to the abyss, annihilation.

15. An end to loneliness, as to all.

16. Pan! Pan! Io Pan! Io Pan!

THE CALL OF PAN

In the darkness, all stand away from the sacred space.

The Priest of the Horned One will be the Focus with pipes in hand, calls loudly to the four directions in the wilderness,

Participants repeat what the Horned One says- yelling:

IO AN! WE CALL THEE (blows on pipes) (4x to each direction and once in the center)

Then he clearly vibrates the following, the rest of the celebrants repeat line-by-line in response:

Eko, Eko Azarak,

Eko, Eko Zomelak

Bagabi Lacha

Bachabe Lamac

Cahi Achababe Karellyos

Lamac, Lamac Bachalyas

Cabahagy Sabalyos Baryolos

Lagoz Atha Cabyolas

Samahac Atha Famolas

Hurrahya!

IO An-IO Pan!!!

(Candles are lit!)

The Procession Circle

PARTICIPANTS Form a circle and revert to Animalself as they like, visualizing themselves as whatever wild beast they wish to assume as all sway and drumming begins and growling begins-

With drumming, clapping and the playing of pipes, participants make animal sounds: howling, hooting, barking, hissing, roaring as they like—calling forth their many animal selves! The Horned One leads them in circle.

The drumming and non-verbal howls and roars rise to a climax… and then all join in one howling IO PAN, IO PAN PAN PAN! IO PAN!

The Blessing

All raise their hands up and receive the blessing from the infinite Heav- ens-Nature. Say:

NU-NUIT!

All lower their hands and touch the Earth, receiving the blessing from the Great Earth-Nature. Say:

GAIA-GAII!

From base to crown and crown to base, all center themselves as the great axis, the great tree of life, and Say:

IO-AN! IO PAN! T

HOOVED ONE, HORNED ONE, ALL ONE- MAN

ALL NONE, BLACK SUN, TERRIBLE ONT- PAN!

PAN OI PAN OI

IOI PAN TO ME TO ME!

I AM THEE!

(AllL ANIMAL HOWLING, HISSING, GROWLING ETC)

With appropriate words of power, the Horned One Picks up the stang, and using it draws the Pangil about the altar. He/she then stands before the altar with arms and stang raised.

The priest kindles the fire, Lights the incense and so on, chanting IO PAN

Once all is done, the Priest/ess takes and raises the stang:

ALL CLOSE THEIR EYES AND SEE THEMSELVES AS PAN!!!

Triest invokes- all repeat:

I am the Eldest Wellspring

And the Youngest Seed

I am Zygote Ecstasy

And Pleasure-Pain of Searing Light

My Branches Encompass the Stars

My Roots the Tunnels of Hades

A Serpent Seed am I

Encircling, Piercing, and Rejoicing In the Orphic Egg

And in She Who is All Night

And Goddess of Darkness

In Me find Shelter from Emptiness and Enuii Through Me Find Dissolution of Law

And of Restriction

Before Me find the Dawn

Behind Me the Dusk

I am Colder than Ice, Hotter than Magma

I am Invisible to the Fool

The Hidden Object of Worship

What is Lost to Me?

What is Forgotten?

All But I Forget the Origin and the Ending

I may Not

For I am the Union Between Them Both

There Is Nothing It Plays

That Is All

For I am ALL! .

Humans Journeys from Here to There Going Nowhere

They Collect and Hoard

Only to Lose All

They see only what they think they see

I show them the Wildness

and the Way of Ecstasy!

I am the Joy that Releases

I am the Star Between the Horns of Death

That which lights the Quicksilver Path

Between the Towers of Onyx and Alabaster

I Invoke

The Mountain, The Forest And All Wild Places

I Call Forth

Plague, Fire, Storms and Floods

Creation, and Destruction of Nature

Yet I am also Play and Happiness,

The piping of music and erotic pleasures!

I am God and Daemon

I am Binary- Being Singular

I am Dead and Tread Upon Dualism

I am All, One and None

All the world Stand Before Me

For I am the Universe at Play!

I Vibrate the Solitary Ecstasy

Behind Me Lies Death and Dissolution

Let It Be forgotten— with Laughter!

All That Is, Was and Will Be…

Is Joy!

I am Green, I am Gold

I am White Within the Blackness

I am Green to the Growing, Gold to the Holy

Bright light at Midnight to the Aware

I am Red, I am Black, I am beyond Purple

I am Red to the Warlike, Black to the Dead

Purple to the Silent Ones

Beyond the Threshold

I am Colorless, Flavorless and Beyond All Senses

My Word

Is the Howl of the Beast!

(All Howl and clap and stomp etc !!!!!!)

The Annointing

Afterwards and one by one, the celebrants approach the altar, strip off what they wish and anoint themselves with the sacred oil/unguent, shouting EN TO PAN

If the oil is mild, bless third eye, heart and genitals

then howling or growling as they like ‘asking’ for what they want from Pan.

The Dancing

Priest urges the whole group to walk and drums and/or plays pipes & then dance clockwise,- the celebrants do a raucous flight/ dance. Some may choose to simply play drums, pipes and so on, others may choose to do wild gyrations or assume the forms of animals. There is no song, but shouts of IO PAN and HA are spontaneously shouted. When the dance reaches its peak all intole a long HAAAAAAAAAAA! Then all visualize becoming one with Pan!:

Line by line, the invocation is chanted:

Heiros Gamos- Merging with Deity

Pan O Pan! Stars crown your head !

Awaken great beast, come forth from your lair

bring me the blessing, bring me the joy

Leap to my shrine, shake shaggy hair

bring me the play that I may say

this is my world and this is my way.

Of shooting star Sirius bright

I invoke and call thee this momentous night!

Great god Pan arise now from within

And come down from the stars where you have ever been

and dance upon the trees, on the snow, in the sky

Fill us all, O joyous heart, that we may dance and play

Yearning for just one fondle, for just one kiss

Beast of black night and fiery midday

O bliss bliss! O stellar kiss!

O Great god who leaps from all as all things wild

I am thy Mate, and I am thy child

I live in your heart, all I am is wild,

Eternal and free,

All Pan, all Wilderness, indwell in me!

O blessed  god of sea and sky and mountain and bud

Conjoin us now in your great flood

A wave of bliss and ecstasy

of lust and happiness, can anything be

A greater flame in loins, head and heart?

Primal, eternal, sharp as a dart

In ecstasy of earth and sky, conjoined within

With horns and hoofs and terrifying grin

What more can anything else truly be?

Io Pan, Io Pan ! It has begun!

Under burning stars we merge one,

for in you I am Free

Great tree of life, of Land and Sea

Eternally grateful, filled with thy mirth

From laughter and love eternal rebirth

Lord of the World, To me, to me!

Io Pan! Io Pan! Io Pan!

Embracing all Life, may I ever be thee!

The Horned One raises his/her arms with the stang raised high and all accept the an explosion of incandescent energy ripple enjoying the cosmic Pan orgasm in and HOWL!!!.

The Stang thus becomes the Icon of the Horned God for the rest of the Sabbat. At this point the celebrants Dance and drink and howl in and dance and drum, play pipes and rattles the cosmic Pan energy gettin wilder and wilder until the priest raises hands and ALL ending with an orgasmic howl…..HA HA HA…..!

OI PAN!!

When done, all touch the Earth and then ayell  EN TO PAN! 3x

The Intoxication

All  come together in one big hug – then spiral out clockwise as the priest plays the Pan Pipes letting the energy spiral out and down, feeding nature, with the The chant:
