Lunar Eclipse Pack Purification Rite

Several times a year the full moon is devoured by the Great Wolf spirit, who changes the lunar sphere red as blood and all goes dark. Lunar eclipses are powerful for many reasons, but in the world of werewolf magick, they mark a time of release, letting go, banishing and purification. This is envisioned as a solo working but could just as easily be done with the whole pack with very few changes, All could have copies of the rite to read the Latin conjurings or the alpha could lead and all repeat, up to the Pack.

Setup

As each wer is developing and expanding his or her form in spirit, so the process is enhanced and speeded up by magickally letting go of those spiritual and psychological hindrances and flaws that suppress the Wolf within. These often red full moon eclipses are gifts given by the Wolf Spirit, the Lunar Lady and Lord of the Forest so that we may bathe in the red lunar power and so dissolve all restrictions to our will and so better release and integrate with our Animalself. All this shield be meditated on as the eclipse approaches.. 

Needed

A wild and secluded place where you can view the lunar eclipse and howl.

A personal ‘shifting trigger’ talisman if you have one (see Chapter 3) or any werewolf magick talisman.

A small container of pure spring water

Each wer has a magickal knife

Sterilizing wipes

The Rite

All arrive under the full moon just before the eclipse begins.

All announce themselves and offer praise to the full moon by howling three times, paws raised.

Each wer, in turn, then pours out a little of the water and calls on the Moon Mothers with a long growly AHaaaaa!

All in a circle turn outward and do the Up-Growl Banishing (appendix)

All then turn to the center with the water container in the center and do the  Praxis Rite.

This is done slowly and intensely, like waves on a sea, taking a long time to enhance and extend the shifting with a ‘shifting trigger’ item if you have one, or other techniques you have already learned such as accessing your fire center. (See the shifting section in  Werewolf Magick) 

All conjure forth their Animalself and shift, intensely invoke and visualize astral wolf forms, take as long as you need until you are fully, wildly feral. At this point the moon will begin to darken from the eclipse, at this all raise your paws to the moon and loudly growl:

Lupus Et obscuratus Magna

Remove humanum problems

Luna lupus ad gloriam!

(Great Wolf eclipse! Remove my human problems! Honor to the wolf moon!)

Each wer reaches up to the moon and feels Her rays of light and power fill wer forms completely until both are completely integrated, each wer and this cosmic lunar goddess.

As the eclipse proceeds, all deepen their trance states and feel the shifting, changing moon and shadow mirrored in each shifting body as each wer’s consciousness becomes clearer, darker, larger. Let go and embrace the transforming alchemy unlike any you have felt before! As the Wolf Spirit devours the moon so too is your human self overwhelmed by your joyful Animalself!

Then all growl:

O gloriosa eclipsis lunae lupus;

Et do facultatem, ut benedicat mihi

Luna magno lupum vorat

Et angustiis meis comedi ! 

(Oh glorious Wolf eclipse Moon. Bless and empower me! As the great wolf devours the Moon)

As the eclipse comes to completion, all complete their full assumption of this primordial werewolf form and raise paws into the air at the reddish orb above as all chant:

Per lupus deus Faunus, sic esto  !

(By the Wolf God Faunus, so be it!)

Each wer now lets go of human consciousness completely and simply sinks into the mystical liminal experience of the personal  lunar transformation that is happening.

Each lets go of any insecurities, negativity, neuroses, fears and everything that needs to be banished!! Each wer is in a  deeply primordial werewolf form, all of this while the human ego sleeps in the umbra! Do the deep work, standing or sitting. Drink the water and feel the power of the Moon cleanse, and heal you.

When the moon emerges from the black-red shadow, all ‘rumble growls’ for a long time as each feels the transformation that has been invoked becoming focused and manifest, like a serpent, shedding a dead skin. All restrictions and negative aspects that are no longer needed dissolve.. When all feel that release, the alpha or another wer digs a hole in the center of the circle and each were takes out their knife and points it at the moon and all howl letting go! 

Now each wer takes their knife and cuts off a lock of hair and drops it in the hole, as all intensely growl MAaaaaa ! This is repeated until every wer has done this.

(The following is up to you) Then, each wer if they choose can then use a wipe on their knife point and on a finger and then pricks his or her paw and drip a a drop of blood into the hole, when those who wish are done, then all together growl RAaaaaa!  and HOWL!

Then all pass the water counter clockwise, each drinking some, until the last of the water is poured into the hole, then all deeply growl  AHhhhh!.  

Then all together fill in the hole intensely and together loudly growl ending with a loud  HAaaaa!  

All then place paws over the now covered hole and growl loudly AHhh- HAaaa! AHhh- HAaaa! AHhh- HAaaa! Thus sealing the rite, ending with a loud growed:

FIAT!

(It is done!)

Then all dance! All that has been released scatters by the grace of the werwolf gods and the power of the black, red, white Moon! Dance, laugh, party as you all like until the moon is again full and shining. Then, when ready, all come together in a group hig, hold hands, and then spiral out counter clockwise, stomping and shaking and letting the shifting sink into the earth with long growls of Maaaa Maaaa Maaa…  and then shake like wet wolves and leave that place, do not look back!
